My account was already setup when I picked up the car. It was my bmw connected id that was part of the Sirius/connected services contract.
They just used my email address. If you are having issue just talk to the business manager at the dealership to fix/set it up.

For some reason my dealer said it is set up but then when I phone BMW Assist they say that there are issues because it is in Canada. A real pain so far

That is BS!!! We cannot use a certain feather of the vehicle because we live in Canada????? That makes me very angry at BMW. I am going to look into this too.

Just talk to the business manager. They will take care of everything. Being in Canada means the dealer has to fix everything - they can't always do it by phone. As dumb as it sounds - that's Canada for you.

What exactly will this allow you to do ? What option is required?

My dealer is going to speak to BMW Canada to sort this out. Fingers crossed.

The app will allow me to lock my doors remotely (in case I think I forgot) and also see where my car is parked and other stuff, but really that is all I would use it for. Supposed to also honk in a parking lot when looking for your car.

It will allow you to air out the car "pre-condition" and send a map location via msg. Also useful if you forget your keys in the car and it accidentally locks.

Preconditioning doesn't work well unless the air outside is much colder than the air inside, vice versa. I found over the weekend that it blew hot air into the car because the vents were hot from the sun. So while a good idea, it doesn't work well in practice for all conditions.

That sucks and basically renders this feature useless as it is very rare to have cool air outside when the car is hot inside. It does happen maybe a few times per year, in the late winter/early spring when the sun heats up the interior but the air outside is still cold. But at that point its actually nice to get into a warm car.

So ya..pretty useless if that's how it works!

Finally got my password reset! But in doing so I am no longer in the system and nobody is associated with my car as the electronic service agreement has disappeared and all my connected services and BMW assist are off and not working! So now I can't login with the new password!

I hope this gets fixed soon!

Sounds like a big hassle. I remember all I needed to set up was get an account online, add my VIN, put in the code that's sent to my car [to verify it's my car] and then all done.

i suspect this is due to the app and website being US versions and our vins being canadian thus unable to register it ourselves. i took delivery of my X5 and couldnt register as well until i found a piece of paper when highlighted log in info and password, and it worked right away with the remote app, dealer never told me about this too... anyways, how do u get connected drive app working? i dont see anywhere to log in?

I had the password and login from my dealer and it did not work. After the password reset and the dealer sending in the electronic agreement I called BMW via the concierge service in the car and this time they said they first had to set up a connected drive account and did that in a few minutes and then sent me a link to change my password and all worked fine.

Once you open the app (BMW Remote app) you should have a place to put in username and password.
