Get some use of the diesel tow power. 10.5L/100km towing. Impressive.

What tires are you running?!? I'm impressed that you are keeping the big wheels and towing also.

I'm about to move from Texas to Alaska and I'm all wobbly in the knees about winter driving

It built up as my car was parked on street. But I have same fear. The lip makes the front end as low as a sedan. You definitely lose some clearance.

Blizzack DMV2 20's absolutely no problem. Don't fall for the dealer nonsense and sacrafice your look for winter performance, the Blizzacks are fantastic even at 20. Total confidence, I just drove from Muskoka Ontario to Mt Laurier Quebec, 1000km round trip through some pretty sketchy conditions towing that trailer. No problem at all.

Thats awesome! 275 and 315's? I was told by my dealership that only pirelli scorpion tires fit the 20" 469 wheels

No 315's for the rear, it's a 275 square setup. Dealer is right there, no one makes a great snow tire at that size/width. I put some spacers in the rear so it doesn't look bad. The wheels I'm using for winter are replicas.

I don't have personal experience with Pirelli snows but I doubt they are anywhere near as good as Blizzak, the Blizzak is very soft and they stay that way for years. I have tried many different snows and none come even close.

Summers are on...and a new addition to the family

Washed and waxed to within an inch....plus The Wife's new Macan.

We took the Macan out west without for a week in Cornwall and it does drive better than the X5. Its fast, boy is it fast - because the cabin is so quiet compared with the F15 you you have to pay close attention to the speedo, REALLY close attention.

I found it's smaller inside than the F15 and the various buttons and leavers you have to press and push make it distracting - not a patch on the iDrive. AND you need to put a 'key' in the dash..wot!!!!

The Porsche sales guy is trying to convince me to try the new Cayenne when its released...I am now sorely tempted, if only they would loose the chrome and it's inherent bling.

But it sticks to the road like glue...great for running around but not a car (I) would drive long distances in.....having said that, The Wife LOVES IT!

Nice fleet, it's interesting to hear your thoughts on the macan in comparison to the x5. I do think bmw do a good on ergonomics. I was considering a macan but it was too small for my needs but it would make a nice second car in the house.
