Sport Seats vs. Multi-Contour Seats
Hey everyone, been a few years since I've been on here and I apologize if this has been covered but I searched and couldn't find specifics.
In the market for a new X5 and was wondering what the difference was between the sport seats that come with the M Sport Line and the multi-contour seats that you can get with the luxury seating package or as an option? Are the sport more adjustable? Harder? Less comfortable? I spend a lot of time in my car and don't want to necessarily sacrifice comfort for support. Thank you in advance! Ryan |

Sport seats come standard on the Msport line..
Sports seats are similar to the Multi-Contour seats AKA Comfort seats. The difference is the top half of the Sport seat does not adjust and move forward, the thigh extenders do not adjust automatically, it is done manually and the side bolsters do not adjust at all.

I sat in the "regular" M Sport seats and could not get comfortable. I have the Multi Contour seats in my E70 and will have them in my F15. It's the number 2 option I look for after the M Sport package. A must, in my opinion.

Did you sit in "regular" sport seats in F15?

I can say the sport seats are very comfy indeed much better than the E70/71 models! The only diff with sport seats to comfort seats is the top half of the backrest has movement other than that the comfort is more a less the same. Hope this helps

I am of like opinion about my mute-contour seats in my F15 compared to the sports seats I had in my 2012 X5 5.0i.

I'm in Canada, and M Sport comes with Comfort Seats.
Are those the same as what you guys are referring to as Multi-Contour? Do Sport and Comfort seats look the same? just have different adjustability?

Yes but unclear if they look exactly the same just have different adjustability?
Also, you said the thigh extenders do not adjust automatically, it is done manually and the side bolsters do not adjust at all. On which seat are you saying this about? Is it the comfort seats which have the automatic thigh extenders or the sport seats ?

They do not look the same, check the headrest (which had a cushion on the MC).
Is the price difference justifiable: YES Can one do without: YES But I would recommend taking MC if you are willing to spend the money |

I have the M sport and I find the seats uncomfortable... way too stiff and hard. After a long trip, my body hates me.

Head rest, upper part of the back rest / seats adjust forward and back, side bolsters adjust automatically, and the thigh bolsters adjust automatically. Sports seats ( standard on US Msport cars ) are similar to the comfort seats AKA multi-contour seats. Only differences are manual thigh adjustment, upper part of the back rest / seat does not adjust, and side bolsters do not adjust. In my opinion.. Multi-contour seats aka comfort seats is the king of seats and should absolutely be clicked when ordering any BMW.

Agreed... if you are road tripper or have a long commute the upgrade is worth every penny. (not a selling point for many but the headrest is motorized as well.)

All of the other choices, including the ventilated, are lacking in one aspect or another!

^ the very first issue u'll run into is u'll be missing the vented seat buttons on the HVAC control unit and im sure that is not cheap to replace, then u'll most likely be missing the hardware weather it be fans under the seats of ducting that channels foot well blower towards the seats

As for the fans/ducting, I'm assuming it's already there but if it's not then I would never bother even trying to do that. My assumption is that the car has it, but just needs to be coded to work and of course I would need a button to activate it. Wonder if anyone has tried?!?

i highly doubt you can code in ventilated seats. there is a great deal of hardware and duct work that goes with it. get the option or live without it because it will most likely cost you more than if you purchased it from jump street.
