Another New F15 Owner's thoughts after 700 miles....
After many months of lingering on the E70 forum, I found my way to the F15 and after much deliberation, took delivery of this on Monday:
Lousy picture: -X35i -M Sport package -Rear View Camera -20" 469 wheels (for sale now) -Harmon Kardon -Rear Shades -Premium package -M Adaptive suspension As you can see, I purchased the 21" M wheels from a member on the forum and I think they look pretty sharp. Will likely be selling off the 20" 469M wheels that came on the vehicle. My thoughts after 700 miles on the F15 vs the E70: -Cant believe ALL the doors still don't unlock when you park the car and exit (my wife hated this feature on the E70 as was hoping the F15 would have corrected it). I don't understand why they haven't changed this feature. -My E70 had the 50i and MAN what a change to go to the 35i. Not going to lie, I miss the V8 big time. The sound at startup, the instant pull when driving, I am going to have to get the MPPK and RaceChip to try and get some of that HP back. -Comfort mode vs Sport Mode are pretty cool, glad I ordered the adaptive suspension. -I know the E70 has "heavy" steering and I do not miss that while driving at slow speeds or parking BUT on the highway I feel the steering on the F15 is too twitchy and light. It feels like if I were to have to make a quick turn to avoid something in the road, I might just flip the damn thing over. Very "twitchy" is the only way to describe it. Anyone else feel this way? -The sport seats on the E70 were far more comfortable. I think the F15 M sport seats are too firm and I miss the taller, thicker side bolsters on the E70. Maybe I should have sprung for the multi contour seats?! -New iDrive features are nice and love being able to bluetooth tunes right from my iPhone - Love the styling of the F15, it just looks sharp! All in all happy with the purchase but I wish the steering was a bit better engineered to my liking, same with the seats. Last edited by imtheant; 06-18-2016 at 09:53 PM.. |

Congrats on your delivery. I love your wheels!
Glad you are happy with the adaptive m suspension as this option really is a no brainier if you are getting the Msport line. Get the mppk and RCU asap! also mpe for the extra growl in the exhaust notes.

Love the 21" wheels. Looks great! Completely agree with you on the steering in the F15. Absolutely crap compared to the E70. My biggest disappointment when I bought the F15.
That being said, love everything else. Don't even mind going from Adaptive M in the E70 to the standard suspension in the F15. I had the Multi Contour Seats in the E70 and test drove an F15 with the non Multi Contour Seats. Could *not* get comfortable, so knew I had to have them. I have the Mocha Nappa Multi Contour Seats in my F15 and they beat the E70 Multi Contour seats. They are amazing. Last edited by P1; 06-18-2016 at 11:48 PM.. |

There is an option in idrive to unlock all the doors which you unlock using keyfob or switch off the engine.

I really love these wheels!!
I will hopefully pick up my new 40D space gray later this week. The car will have the 469 M from factory but I'm really interested in getting these 612M 21". Will have to ask my dealer about price. |

I ordered space grey because the other few colors offered were pretty boring. There's like 2 whites 3 blacks some freakish blue color, boring silver and space grey. I would have been all over Ferrari red or Ford Grabber blue.

Haha!
Called my dealer and asked for the price for a complete set of 612M 21". The list price in Sweden is 98 000 sek. That's about 11 872 USD. Woop! |

Unlocking ALL doors when engine stops is easily coded. One of the best coding addition i've done)))

everything what one needs to know is there. First time when my car was coded i used a expertise of the member here, however since that time i was able to play around and tick few other options. Coding to your car can be done remotely for a very reasonable fee. So, look through the thread))) PS, unlocking all doors when engine stops, folding mirrors from a fob, as well as closing a trunk remotely are the few i "i cannot live without"...

Unfortunately, you'll never get used to the steering. You'll learn to accept and live with it, but you're always going to think it sucks. Especially if you have other cars.
I drove my SO's Jetta Sportwagen this weekend. I'm a bit ashamed to admit that even that thing's steering is miles better than the X5. |

Thanks for the all compliments. I hope to start with MPPK and see where that takes me as far as mods. I would love to lower it just a tad (1") or so, but I have mixed feelings on lowering springs and coilovers are a pretty penny.

Twitchy
Imtheant, you nailed it with the word "twitchy" when it comes to steering a 2016 F15. Coming from a 2012 E70 there must be a long transition period to adjust. After 500 miles of driving, I still don't have the hang of it. It's funny, I really didn't notice it last week while driving on the road course at the PC in a new X5.
I don't think one can beat the road feel that the E70 gave the driver. Just a note I see you're in Delaware, the state I grew up in. The du Pont families ran everything even the high school A.I. duPont where I went. Unfortunately Wilmington is not the city it was when I lived in there, and to see "the company" merging with Dow is unthinkable. My former bosses would turn over in their graves. |

Said it before and worth mentioning again. My F15 without adaptive chassies has ultra stiff steering. Road feel is always there and putting the car in sport mode makes the steering really heavy. It actually took me a while to get used to the heavyness when I got my F15.
I did however drive one with M sport suspension and that steering was something completely different, like driving on ice regardless of surface or speed. Did not like it. |
