This should NOT be an option, should come standard with ALL safety options at this price I'm actually surprised people cheap out on such options but get stuff that's not as important IMO

why stop there? make a fully loaded x5 the same price as a no-line base x5. make all options free! #feelthebern #voteforbernie

If he's willing to steal something as cheap as beer, what else has he stolen in his lifetime? I'm sorry, but we all work way too hard for our belongings to vanish because of scum like this. [/rant]

I'm not defending theft in any form or fashion, but a horrific death like this because of stealing beer?

the end result is the sum of many bad decisions not just the theft... but this is getting way off-topic here.

Too bad about the car.
Sorry to hear a man died, but the unfortunate result is the consequence of his own actions. |

And if you zoom in under the car, you'd see a hose or tube of some sort on the car!

Shouldnt all the X5 come with Active Safety as a standard? Or it wasn't activated due to the high speed? usually camera based systems are slow to pick up objects.

I have the pedestrian safety feature and I have yet to see it work. It is activated at all times and not once has it triggered. Even though I drive through the streets of Manhattan on a daily basis

The problem is the thing is likely designed to pick up obstacles that may pop out from a distance. The problem is the overpass columns likely obstructed any view of a man running across. It doesn't matter if there is a pedestrian detection or not if you can't see them, you can't stop before hand.
I had this problem before when I was turning once and I almost hit a pedestrian who was running across the crosswalk. I couldn't see her as she hiding under the scaffolding of a building under construction. Fortunately I was going very slowly since I was turning, but it could have been a more unfortunate scenario had I been going at speed. |
