So that's why the insurance quotes I'm getting for the car are now over £1000
Always wise to get the replacement GAP insurance in case of this eventuality.

Agree with the GAP...nice to have it if required...just extending mine into the 4th year.

I think the insurance is down to the UB post code

I pay £400 in Wilts/Glos

Tell me about it.......

Being black probably doesn't help Greg's case either, as black M-Sport X5's are the most sort after to nick by all accounts (along with black RR's)

Another reason why I...
a) I didn't want a MSport
b) picked an off the wall colour combo.

I was going to go with 4 years GAP but for an extra £120 considering 5 years for piece of mind. I will probably keep the X5 a lot longer than with my previous motors this time bearing in mind how much I've paid for it

I've had a car and a motorbike nicked in the past.....(my garage was broken into to take the Ducati as well as all my tools) and I'll do what I can to minimise the risks, but ultimately, if the scum want it, they'll get it.....

I was in Central London for most of Saturday and what surprises me is the sheer number of X5's Range Rovers and Cayennes there are, I even spotted my first Maserati Levante. It crossed my mind whether everyone else had the same problems insuring their cars that i did

Did some hunting tonight on the insurance comparison sites as I was panicking a bit that my new car was going to be a tad expensive to insure.
Surprisingly I have come up with a quote of just under £600 all in with Hasting Premier
So I'm calling them tomorrow to snap up the quote before that starts shooting up in price the nearer I get to picking up the car next week.
It funny Hasting were no where to be seen a few weeks ago when it came to be the cheapest. Always best to keep checking.

In Holland also a high recovery. The system here is called Lojack.

https://www.facebook.com/LoJackBenelux/?fref=ts

However it's a very good system, almost none of the insurance companies accept Lojack but only GPS following (and they jam it as easy)

Comfort access cracking and/or coding blank key via OBD port are certainly the common ways they are being taken, other way is homes being broken into just to take the key fob and then driven away.

Most of the X5s in these numbers are still E70 models. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Possibly......can't see any reference to which years are being stolen or targeted the most...??

However, these stats are from Tracker, so are more likely to be cars up to 4, maybe 5 years old....so likely quite a large percentage of F15's.
Once cars get older than 4/5 years old, a lot of people (especially 2nd or 3rd owners) don't bother paying up for the yearly subs for a Tracker unit, even if one was fitted by the original owner.

Agreed. Most likely newish F15s to protect their new investment.
That and being a requirement for some but not all insurance companies.

I'm certainly renewing my subscription along with GAP insurance when the car reaches its 3rd birthday in May.

They don't need to build a wall. They just need to have border checks again, or just close the borders.

Never going to happen.

As that would be admitting the Grand European Project is a failure.....
