CODING FIX??? ODB2 Device setting off Panic Alarm...
So I got my F16 X6 and installed my V1 radar detector using a SAVVY (ODB2 socket power and speed monitor) device.
Worked fine.... until I locked the car. Then after after about 3 seconds the Panic Alarm went off. If I remove the Savvy from the ODB port, then no issue.. Talked with Valentine Research and they said that they got a call about this happening on a 2015 i3 and a 2015 X5 (only happened after dealer called it in for a programming update) SO...... Is there a coding setting that can be done to turn off ODB monitoring when the car is locked? I am assuming BMW put this in so that thieves can't attempt to jack the car via ODB reprogramming. Basically the SAVVY is pinging the ECU for speed data for 30 seconds when the ignition is turned off. If I wait 40 seconds to lock the car after ignition is off, then I have no issue. Of course this is not an option if I valet the car. : |

Same on 2016 X5
I have a zubie on my new X5, and alarm goes off 10 seconds (panic alarm i think) after i lock the car. delaer said that is due to the device on the OnBoard Diagnostic port (16 pin port i think). Any advice to not have that happen and keep this on the port (keeps track of mileage for business).

Hey Guys...
Any luck or progress on this? I have a 2014 X5. I had the original iDrive/OS software on the vehicle until today and no problems with SAVVY. The dealership updated the software to the latest version and now I have the alarm tripping a few seconds after a door lock. Any known work arounds? |

Did this work ? I have the same issue on a brand new 2016 X5 40e, I`m using Automatic OBD adapter and the car alarm goes off after locking it.
Really need this automatic adapter to work... Anyone with any luck ? |

I have metromile insurance and it needs to stay plugged in at all times to be insured. When I would lock the door, after 5 seconds the alarm would go off. After getting this coded, it works the way it should and the alarm does not go off. Thanks a ton! |

I just came across this thread. I hardwired by V1 and concealed display in my 2016 F15 X5 earlier today and used my SAVVY module to keep things simple. I like SAVVY even with the bluetooth LE module installed in my vehicle and V1Driver on my iPhone, because SAVVY is so easy to install and convenient. Everything worked great until I took my wife to dinner and tried to lock the doors with my key fob after parking outside the restaurant. Boy was that embarrassing. I thought I had inadvertently hit the panic button initially, and it took the alarm going off a couple times before I finally put one and one together and unplugged SAVVY from the OBDII port.
I had seen the note on the Valentine One website about SAVVY being incompatibile with some BMW models, and actually spend the last couple of days with my V1 plugged into SAVVY and cables running around my car just to see if there was an issue with my X5. Everything worked great during my test, so I went ahead with the install this afternoon. But I guess I never tried to lock the car when my V1 was plugged in to the OBDII port. I found this thread, and a YouTube video explaining how to change codes using BimmerCode. I just ordered a Veepeak OBDCheck Bluetooth scanner tool and downloaded both BimmerCode and BimmerLink. Thanks again for this information. I am crossing my fingers. Now I have to see what other fun stuff I can do with the scanner tool. I’m really interested in tinkering with the HUD. Thanks for this tip. Last edited by Djg21; 10-05-2018 at 11:05 PM.. |

I was able to add the turn signals — I don’t have the digital display. There were only two codes to change, both in the KOMBI section. Having the turn signals on the HUD is helpful. Other than that, I did most of the standard tweaks, i.e., folding mirrors when locking car, door lights on revers, no disclaimers, etc. Thanks.
