Our new '16 Alpine/Aragon X5M (New Pics with ACS Springs)

I've typically spent most of my time on the f80 forum, but am really excited about our recent X5M purchase. My wife was driving a Cayenne GTS and we loved it, but she decided she was ready for something different and thought she wanted a Macan. Luckily, the fuel hose recall/stop sale gave us some time to think more about it and she decided with our 2 little kids, the Macan was too small (id been saying that the whole time This brought her back to the X5 and I love M cars, so we started our search. I thought we wanted LBB or DG, but after seeing both with aragon and black interiors, we couldn't pull the trigger on either. What we did find though was an alpine/aragon in dallas, and thats an easy trip from tulsa. The only item missing were the 21s but frankly, the 21s were a slight touch rough on the GTS, so this didn't break my heart as this Is what we normally take as a family.

Last week we painted the rear diffuser and mirror caps black, added 15% johnson tint (I'm going to replace it with llumar which seems a slightly better color match), and suntek paint protection film. Next week we will be adding the IND cosmetic package and until we make a wheel decison, I'm going to powdercoat the wheels gloss black. I'm also going to some sort of spacer combo, but not sure the sizes yet.

I look forward to seeing more of what everyone is doing with their cars.

Thx!
At one time we had three black cars...I had much more free time to wash cars in those days. I don't think you can go wrong with either color, but I'd vote DG, with red interior

Love you X5M man and still considering a set of wheels like your 20's..just haven't quite pulled the trigger yet.

The cosmetic package and coated wheels should be going on end of this week. I'll try to get some good pictures once that's all done.

Looks awesome! Any comparisons from the GTS to the X5M? My wife currently has a 13 GTS and loves it, but with 2 car seats the back Is a bit tight. Today we were out shopping and there was a new X5M and she pointed out to me how she really liked it. There are 2 locally for sale and we're planning on going to check them out this week. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I think we are in similar places We loved out '13 GTS also but my wife thought she had one more shot before having to move to a 3 row suv (our kids are 4 and 2), so she actually wanted to try a macan turbo. I was reluctant, but was going to let her go that direction. thankfully with the fuel line stop sale and more thought, she realized it'd be too small (I had already sold our GTS though).

while the x5m doesn't sound bad, the gts sounded AMAZING. I think build quality is equal with each and while our x5m has 20's and not 21's, it rides significantly smoother than the gts. we also both prefer the bmw steering, but we are also more used to that as we've owned more bmw's than porsches. size wise, the bmw definitely feels a little bigger, but really in a good way. It is more spacious inside, but I don't know if the middle rear seat room really gets you that much more space than the gts with both our car seats in there. the bmw is overall more comfortable in our opinion while still being fun and sporty (and complete overkill for family hauling), and probably only attracts slightly less attention than the carmine red gts we had (good or bad thing depending on what you want).

all IND parts going on today and coating the wheels gloss black tonight...ill post some pics asap. we are also going to play around with 12.5 and 17.5 spacers, and ill report back on if anything works with those on this application.

Thanks for the reply! We are going to see one tonight so we can compare the cayenne and x5m. Can't wait to see all the ind parts on yours! The one we are going to see is donnington grey with full mugello red interior pretty much stuffed. Msrp is $115,995. I don't know how much room there is on these but I'm going to to try my best to negotiate a good deal if it works out

sounds great good luck! I love that gray/red combo...very sharp.

I should have more pics tomorrow. we have it on jack stands right now though and as people had reported, the 12.5 spacers won't work on the front. im going to see how it looks with no spacer in front and 12.5 rear to start and then see what others options may look like if we aren't happy with the look.

Def post pics when done! I'm thinking of having it wrapped with the matte xpel film to give it the frozen look, 20% tint all around, gloss black wheels and grilles then a de badge in the back. My wife is usually ok with the mods lol! Today she drove my G63 and said that is def not something she wants to drive on a regular basis haha mission accomplished.

im sure you have seen powerbeast's thread, but you can see what the expel stealth will look like on DG....I think it's killer. I had a similar film on my c63 black series and people loved it. hope the deal works out tonight.

Got everything Installed except the reflectors today..guess I'll do those when we do the acs springs next week. We did the 12.5 spacers in the rear and that fills the rear enough for me. The front looks ok, but I may try a 5 up front just to balance it out a little...ill post pictures tomorrow.

hmm...my post just disappeared so ill try again. sorry for the bad light and my house being a construction zone, but we are very happy with the ind painted parts. my wife really wanted the grille stripes and I was against them, but I kinda like them now. we also switched the front windows to llumar film that matches the factory glass a little more. i know black painted wheels make the design disappear and aren't for everyone, but they will do the trick for us for now until we decide if we want to do something more aggressive. ill get a real photo shoot soon, and post some better pics after the reflector and acs spring install sometime next week.

Your X5 looks awesome. It's also the first time I bought a white car and I put gloss black rims on it. Wasn't sure about the look, but man does white look good with black rims.

Any other mods you thinking of doing?

Thx! Doing acs springs, 5mm front spacers, white reflectors, and then figure out an exhaust option....that will be about it
