The levels of grip on tap are equally impressive, as is the entire chassis. “It has very good grip and incredible body control,” Jason Cammisa said. “Stability control stays out of your way. That’s seriously impressive on any modern car, but a truck? Wow, kudos.”

However, Cammisa’s praise of the X6 M stops there. For one, he doesn’t like the way fake engine sounds are pumped through the stereo. “We’re hearing some German nerd’s version of a ‘Star Trek’-era hydrogen-fueled Segway,” he said. “The upshift farts are the only real engine noise you hear, and they’re absurd.” Cammisa didn’t care for the steering, either. “It has no on-center feel at all and no sense of straight ahead,” he said. “It does have reasonable feel in the corners, so if you pay close attention, you’ll know when you get to the limits.” On the back roads, I liked the lack of on-center feel. It made the X6 M feel much more darty and playful. Like a WRX addicted to both steroids and PCP. Cammisa found the BMW’s ride “very stiff, even in Comfort mode,” and the interior sounded like “a cacophony composed of tire impacts and cabin rattles.” Seabaugh, however, saw it this way: “The ride is so stiff I hit a dip and whacked my head on the roof. But what’s another concussion when you’re having this much fun?” Excellent point!
And *this* vehicle won the round up?!

How is that X6m 0-60 3.7s and Turbo S 0-60 4.2. And more, quarter Porshe Turbo S slower than other.

So, do the performance specs for an F85 (X5 M) match the F86 (X6 M)? Will the X5M burst to 60 in 3.7 and match the track time?

I think so, Motor Trend also tested F85 X5 M and get identical 0-60 time, only 0.1 sec slower than X6M on 1/4 mile.

Difference between the X5M and X6M is minimum, performance wise. But I'm amazed they were able to nail 3.7 on the X6M, but motor trend always get better numbers than other mags, maybe they have different way to measure it?

It's amazing that our cars have a lateral acceleration of .98g. BMW wins in braking, acceleration, and cornering. Yet, it's $60k cheaper than a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S with similar options.

By the way, the new X5M and X6M actually makes 647HP at the crank with 93 octane (not 567HP). BMW was able to legally sandbag the HP numbers by testing with lower octane fuel.

Jnosol , are you sure ?

For example , in Europe we have the X5 M50d , tri-turbo diesel engine , 381 HP announced by BMW.
After trying a few F15 M50d on the Dyno , the maximum power was 345 HP.

I doubt very much that our F85's have more than announced , even with a higher octane.
I'm filling in 98 octane all the time.

Uhh... Maybe I am mistaken here but Motor trend always shows a slower 0-60 than Car and Driver. I thought Motor Trend was the one that didn't romp on the cars. I think of my other three performance cars, Car and Driver shows them doing a .2-.4 Second faster 0-60 than MotorTrend does.

After reading that article my hands are sweating in anticipation of our new X5M. And as the test said, no driver will ever take on the track... Uh. this WILL be my wet weather track car lol. I can tow my normal track car and if it rains I just disconnect the trailer and take the X5M out!

Stop looking at numbers! Porsche Cayenne Turbo is the best in class! Quality components + best handling! Those that don't agree about handling, never drove a Porsche turbo! Don't have enough money for Porsche, go and buy BMW X5/6 M.

Fixed^^^^

Don't forget the option of adding a steering wheel to the Porsche, its hard to drive without one

Yes I had a Cayenne in the past too. Great car hands down, but not as good of a value hands down.

not sure if i can agree with you. they nailed with saying cayenne is old, a refresh is not that considerable and to be honest its flat frog look isn't helping it much.

if you drive one and you get embarrassed on the road by x5/6m then dont cry just know that you have a higher class car and should feel rich!

i recently blew doors off brand new bentley gt, and they guy told me at least i'm rich....to which i said, "maybe but we were measuring our pockets just now but speeds of our cars and you got your ass handed to you...so next time your rich ass can pay some to lose" ..... the guy had a deer in the headlights look and drove off like a ricer.

so take the test for what it is, an opinion.

Gosh, where do people that buy these cars shop for groceries and clothes? At the end of a race track? Seriously though, confused cars for confused buyers.

Should've told him the GT depreciates like a brick and he is now driving a $70k car

I am every bit expecting that my X5M is faster than my Lambo... The X5M is my wifes car lol. But as I tell people the X5 is for my wife, the M is for me :-)
