Aftermarket Rotors and Pads
Getting really frustrated trying to find decently priced aftermarket pads and rotors for the X5M.
EBC is looking to be the best shot, but finding anyone to sell them, and actually have them available to sell has resulted in much frustration here. What I've found: Pads - They only have the Red and Yellow available for the M series (and currently out of stock for the fronts). Red Front part No DP32091C, Rear DP32008C. Yellows are a "4" in place of the 3 in the part number. Front Rotors: No plain rotors available even though they actually have and list a part number for them. GD1813 (395mm dia, 15.6in) dimpled and slotted, and USR1813 slotted. Rear Rotors: 15.2 in dia (385mm). RK1814 (Plain) GD1814 (drilled and slotted) USR1814 (Slotted) My first attempt at purchase was with "Place For Brakes", linked off EBC's website. Submitted the order online, and within a day received an order cancellation notice stating that none of the parts were available. A phone call to EBC contradicted that - however, I found out that the front red pads were backorderd, and that both sets of rotors would be at least 3-4 weeks. |

Aside from being out of stock, are these brake pads compatible with the rest of the F85 brake system without changing anything?

I was told that the E70 X5M rotors are the same size/dimension as the F85 rotors. I use to have a F15 X5 35i and installed the M Performance Brake kit on that car which is the same brake kit that came stock on the E70 X5M. I was then able to upgrade to the F85 rotors with my kit and everything fit like a glove. This might open up more options if companies have rotor fitment for the old X5M. Pad on the other hand are different from what I know. The F85 uses bigger pads.

I have a 2011, so can't say for certain about the F85. I'd guess they would work.
I received my rear pads from EBC tonight. The vendor cancelled my entire order for the fronts. Rear rotors are supposedly going to be made in a few weeks. |

The difference on E70/E71 X5M/X6M and F85/F86 X5M/X6M is only the front caliper.
Brake pad size also different. I am in a talk with brake pad manufacturer to get it made.

What kind of pads are you trying to get made? Ceramics? I would like to have something that does not cause so much dust. Without sacrificing braking performance.

Update - it appears that one additional aftermarket rotor manufacture is Adams Rotors - but your paying about 40% more for these than we would for the OEM (1100 for the fronts). Oems run about 700 for the front.
Updating with part numbers and approx street price. OEM: Front Left: 34116789069 @360 ea Front Right: 34116789070 @360 ea Rear (interchangable): 34216795318 @ 275 ea Last edited by jjt4806; 11-28-2016 at 08:27 PM.. |

why wouldn't you buy the oem rotors and just try different pads?

Damn it...I'm reading this thread via the F85 forums, so since you posted here, I'd assumed this meant someone close by was possibly selling their stock F85 setup for something beefier and I could buy your old setup. If you hop onto the E70 forums, there are a handful of threads showing pads and rotors used, I don't recall if anyone has swapper calipers yet though.

I managed to snag a couple front rotors on a rare Black Friday deal from an online BMW parts supply place. Didn't post it until they showed up - was afraid it was a scam.
Got them for 270 each with free shipping. |

You could try to contact Dave at Zeckhausen Racing. He doesn't have anything listed on his website, but he might be able to find something for you.

One in the same, sir :-) Are you at Boeing as well? I've seen one inside the gates parked outside the 40-25 building and over by MSDC...white on graphite colored 22's.

I'm SST, so I'm all over the place...mostly 777 as of late. Just saw your signature, my mistake. The GF has an 08 535xiT and wants to tune it...I fear the day she'll chase me down in the X5M :-)
