M Sport Launch control

Does anyone know if the US M Sport comes with Launch control? If it does, where is the button?

It does... there's a sequence of steps detailed on how to use it in the owner handbook (no button)

Isn't that crazy? 6600 lb SUV with launch control but not on my F30 (I think they may have since added it, but pretty sure mine (a '13) doesn't). I have no need for it, just think it's funny.

The advantage/benefit is, you maximize your chances of getting a consistently good acceleration time, because the "computer" launches your car, not you. I know you're asking yourself, "On a SUV??" That's a whole different discussion.

C'mon, what grocery getter doesn't need to leap off the stop light like a bat out of hell? I just wouldn't feel safe if my wife couldn't do this with my kids in the car

It dumps the clutch with just the right amount of slip to keep from spinning the tires too much, but with... oh wait. It's an automatic transmission? Oh.
Well then it must dial in just the right amount of traction control so it doesn't lose traction and spin the tires too... oh wait. It's all wheel drive? Oh.
Uh, no, I can't think of any use for it.
Ya wanna go fast, stomp on the pedal.

LC will get you nice kick off the line
Rarely useful, but if you enter highway from stop sign (we have these around here) it may come handy
I used it in my X6M in those cases.
50i however will get better use of it. I dont see much advantage for 35i

Launch control's benefit - Building boost before you launch plus the ECU controls the wheel slip for optimum acceleration.

Similar result could be had if one just used his left foot on the brake method but some would argue that BMW made some internal changes inside the transmission on LC cars to be able to handle this feature.

Here is what I do according to the handbook:
1. Choose the Sport Plus mode ( it will turn off the traction control too)
2. Put the gear in sport mode
3. Push the brake firmly with your left foot
4. This part is a bit tricky: punch down the gas pedal, in a blink of an eye the "Launch Control Active" Flag pops up..
5. Release the brake and enjoy the younger brother go all crazy.
I'm pretty impressed with the different results I felt!!
For me it may comes handy once a week at Max.. even though I drive 70% of time driving on sport and sport plus modes.
