F15 Door Sill Protection

Tried to design these as smart as possible, they cover the rounded sections too, something to keep in mind for new X5 (f15) owners, feedbacks welcome of course..

Looks good, was there no way you could do a clear vinyl wrap so there was no colour diff? I'm having mine done in the next few weeks but my car is black so it will look more OEM. Nice job though

I like the idea of clear as well. More subtle.

Clear vinyl works for sure but without something solid in there it is really hard to draw attention of my passengers to take some care when getting in and out.. The new X5 logo is perfectly inscribed so I don't get that much feeling of an add-on and they follow the curvature beautifully..

My bad bktheboss I missed the point and wasn't looking at the X5 logo bits, looks good in that case, I'm have the top edge of the sills clear wrapped not the section you've done nice job matey

After seeing this post I went out to both my cars and checked the condition of my sills and neither one has a scratch on the (I have 2 boys). I never knew this is a problem that needed to be solved

Hi MRV,

I waited for some to see how these would perform on Ebay, a screenshot is attached below, apparently some F15 owners did think these would be functional and so far it seems they are happy with the looks, too..

How old are they? My 3 year old wants to climb alone and the only way to get to the child seat is by stepping on absolutely everything on the way, it is so high! I am afraid in a few years there will be scratches...

I agree these are functional, all my door sills are scratched, it is a problem since the area is very large. I like the idea, but I am more concerned about the white paint rubbing off. Did you make them without the white paint?
Wild idea: I would love to see how these looked body colored, it may not look as good but it would be more subtle like some said.

Golden Horn, thanks for noticing that, well I guess you caught the secret in these. NO PAINT INVOLVED! That white will never disappear or fade! You can even clean these with a paint thinner, no harm will be done, not the vinyl sticker though..

And they are backed with the best in market double sided tapes, genuine 3M VHB, I advise to everyone making a trial for alignment before peeling the tapes off, unbelievably strong, you would probably bend the plates if you try to remove them one day later..

Body colored versions, well I don't think so, the matte black creates a presense and suits them all..

And about the "M" letter some mentioned, guys, if I am not mistaken, as in the pictures above, the M package X5's come with those shiny plates inside the recesses factory installed, they already have the "M", a second one on these, I don't think would be appropriate..

I wish I knew about these when I first got my E70, but I will definitely consider them when I get my F15. Good luck.

I really like the BMW X5 M BUT without the individual tacked on. It looks very nice and I would buy!

what about some sort of guard for the rest of the door sill/running board that runs from the front to back and also gets stepped on. On the M sport it's only a painted surface and my kids are slowly leaving their mark. Is there a pre-cut clear film for those panels that one can purchase somewhere?

Has anyone gotten these on a black X5? Mine is a week old and I already see the scratches there. I think these are the only solution other than keeping a rotary buffer handy and continuously buff it...
I also found these: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BMW-X5-F1...-/251555245973

I don't have any scratches on mine because I always am careful to step over it when I get in and out of the car. It will all be wrapped anyway so I don't have to worry about it. That does seem like a good solution though, but personally, it make it look like there too much going on in comparison to the actual door sills being there. Just my two cents.
