2016 BMW X5 f15 50i m sport. Need an Oil change maintenance suggestion

I've been using Castrol edge 5w40, went for an oil change few days ago, and put castrol edge 0W30, the guy suggested to put that oil since it's summer. It feels like that the car lost its power, and when accelerating I can feel that the transmission is struggling to change the gears.
Any suggestions which is the best oil for 50i. And should I stick to the same oil for the whole year or change it during winter and summer time.
Thank you!

I don't think this has anything to do with your oil.

Ditto…sounds odd that an engine oil change would affect the way the transmission shifts.

Are you sure you haven’t changed the driving experience switch to ECO-PRO? Only asking because your description of loss of power & acceleration sounds more like Eco Pro mode than an oil change.

Transmission reset

They might have accidently reset the adaptive transmission. which learns how you drive and will change gear based on your driving habits.

Here is how to reset it:
Put key in the ignition.
Click on the Start button without having your foot on the accelerator. At this point the lights on the dash will all light up.
Push the accelerator to the floor and hold it for about 30 seconds and you'll hear a very faint sound. This is the reset sound.

Hope this helps.

You should go back to what you were using, and see if you’re happy that the problem has gone away.

Oil could definitely affect the running of an engine due to the fact that some is burned during combustion. The N63TU does burn lots of oil (compared to other engines). I have moved from using Castrol 5w-30 to Shell Helix Ultra 5w-30 and then 5w-40, and I do notice a difference in how the engine runs and applies power at low RPM/high torque ranges.

The Shell Helix Ultra supported the SN Plus oil standard (and LL-01) and this standard was created to mitigate newer engines that would suffer Low Speed Pre-ignition. I moved to the thicker oil to see if it made a difference to the amount of oil burned. I was burning 1 litre of oil every 2,500 kms.

I'm not saying that this is your issue, but, the easiest thing to do is go back to the oil you were using and see if the issue is not present.

This method used to be popular in the E70 community, but it turned out to be a myth, at least for 8 spd ZF transmissions. You need ISTA or a similar tool to reset transmission adaptations.
