How to remove the B-pillar panel?
Hey guys, as per the thread title. Specifically, the panel that houses the seatbelt, How to do it? Do you just rip it out? and does it stay looped to the seatbelt?

Not sure if you tried it on your own or not. But here are some inputs. You know I am not a bmw expert but thought it might help. First, for those folks who I used your photos, thank you.
Here we go: If you look at your b pillar, they make up 2 pieces (upper bpillar and lower bpillar is what i call them). To get the upper bpillar out, you need to take the lower bpillar out first. But the lower bpillar extends all the way down to the bottom door kick plate. The bottom door kick plate is on top of the lower bpillar. Now you should look at the photo (first photo) and go inspect your car to see if what I just said is the case for you. But I will warn you that if you remove the kick plate, you will have a very hard time putting that back (It was the case for me).

So this is what I would do had I known about this. Btw, both upper and lower bpillar sections are held in by pins/clips. See the red circle in the photo. You want to start pulling the lower bpillar out at the area where upper and lower bpillar section meet. There is a strip that wraps around the door opening so lift that black strip to get to the crease and pull the lower bpillar out (but don't remove it completely). Once the top part of the lower bpillar is loose from the clips and create a big enuf gap for you to start removing the upper bpillar part. Also, once you have one clip loose, you can stick your hand behind the bpillar and feel for the next clip and just unclip it. Let us know if there is a better way of doing this. Would be nice if you take some photos showing how you fix the click noise from the seatbelt clip. It does have a torx screw so make sure you have access to torx tools.

tx, you're my hero thanks for the plan of attack! I will try it once the weather gets nicer (I know I've used that excuse many times before, but seriously, the weather sucks here)

I plan to either tighten the bolt or ask the dealer for the 'better designed bolt' as listed in the TSB. I'm also going to add some foam tape and some dynamat onto the body, I think one of the reason why the clicking is bugging me is because of the hollow space surrounding it, creating echoes if you will. If you tap on the B-pillar, you can tell it's hollow and there's nothing in there.

yeah, it (pillar) is just a cheap plastic piece.

More details with photos...there is a rubbery felt piece that runs along the door opening (pic 1). Lift this rubbery to expose the edge of the plastic bpillar so you can grab the edge and pull the bpillar out. Dont remove or pull on the rubbery felt piece (pic2).
Ok, I am done for the year. Time to enjoy my car...

Actually, I was in TO in 2003 (I think). I went to Niagra Falls, went to china town and had a feast on tropical fruits, and went up the CN Tower (or was it called CA Tower) where you looked out to the lake and looked down at the Sky dome.
Nice place and will come back soon and hopefully I will get to take a trip to Ottawa and do some camping up in the mountains (I heard).

yip, that's the CN tower, you can see it in my sig pic.
If you have the chance, try whitewater rafting in the Ottawa river, it's ranked pretty high up, alongside whitewater rafting in Colorado. I'm actually trying to arrange a rafting trip with some friends this summer, get away from the city and work for some weekend rafting and ATVing:rocks: Quote:
