I have a 2018 with HK. I like the setup and for the most part its good enough for me but it definitely lacks bottom end when listening to anything remotely bass heavy. Lets be honest about 80% of the time I listen to NPR. Anyway I decided to add a sub and wow it really filled out the overall sound of the system. I went with a dayton ultimax II 8 inch in a 0.8cf sealed box. I got the box from ebay thinking it might fit the spare tire well without interfering with the lid. It does. It measure 8.5 inches when laid on its side but the surround of the sub rubs the trunk lid. I ended up just spacing it up an inch on each side so it clears. I will likely build a custom box when I have some time to mess with it. I powered it with a ct sounds 700.1 monoblock wired down to 1 ohm and it is way overkill power for the dayton, but it has enough power to add another sub or bigger sub later if I want. I dont think thatll be necessary since this one gets plenty plenty loud. I used a Rockford line out converter tapped off the front to subwoofer feeds. Anymore volume and the rest of the system would need to be reamped and honestly im not looking to spend 2 grand on an amp then another grand or 2 on a complete set of upgraded speakers.

Anyway the sound is way way more filled out and if you listen to bass heavy music this will totally change the way it all sounds. It literally makes the entire system sound fuller. I also have the aub passed pretty high since its small sub in sealed box.

Burger only makes one ewg f chassis jb4 as far as I can tell....so I ordered it. We will see if it ships out monday. They have a pending charge on my card so Im curious. If so thats a nice discount!

Hello all, first time poster and bmw owner here.
Hoping to get some much needed help with my “new to me” F15 purchase.
I bought it from a gentlemen who said he barely drove it, had low battery when I purchased it and didn’t notice til I already paid him. Didn’t think much of it, put a new one in and registered it. Also noticed the comfort access didn’t work, and it showed on the dash comfort access limited.

I really wanted my comfort access to work so I started diving into it. I pulled the codes and it had an 804107 - Interior antenna IRV Line Interruption, and a E44414 CAN bus control module BUS OFF.

So I ordered a new interior antenna, and set off replacing it last weekend. Did not fix the issue. Definitely was a pain in the butt the replace, though. All week I have been waking up to low battery alerts after the install. I don’t know if it is a coincidence after installing the new sensor? But now I have more than just the lack of comfort access, it looks like it’s pulling power? Or maybe it was doing that to the old owner and that’s what killed the previous battery? All speculation, but on my end I haven’t gotten those alerts until this week, even with the fresh battery in the car.

I have a Multimeter with an amp clamp, battery tester, and a test light at my disposal for diagnosis. I also have Bimmerlink and Bimmercode.

I am really hoping for direction from the community here, because I LOVE this car.

I planned on scanning the codes again this weekend, and checking for draw with the amp clamp and going from there. Should I put the old interior antenna back in preemptively?

Please help me feel hopeful lol, I’m pretty mechanically sound, but I’m no master technician.

Thank you so much in advance

-Adam

I have the Adaptive LEDS lights and the "angel eyes" are lit by 2 circuit boards with led light. You can Google internet image showing LED vs Xeon. if you have adaptive, it will say Adaptive on the side or you will see a horizontal line going through the center of light.

My LED Angel Eyes/Aka DRL is not working on one side.
The attached image titled top of the light shows what the LED board looks like. The first DRL I replaced because the top has a lid you can remove and get to the board. It worked for 2 days but stopped working
Im going to try the 2nd board.
fyi- I found the DRL Led boards on Ebay.

The problem is the 2nd board is in the corner next to fender. Rather than taking the bumper off, im going to try removing the wheel and wheel liner (remove fender liner pic) which will allow me to remove the lid and access the 2nd drl board.

has anyone ever done this? I am guessing there is a second board in the corner for the other Angel Eye.

I will keep you posted.

Hi all,

Recently purchased a 2015 F15 RHD and discovered 2 weeks ago that the carpet underneath the drivers footwell was absolutely drenched underneath. The passenger side also felt slightly damp, but not wet.

I dried both sides out fully and I can now feel the driver's side wet again. I checked and cleaned the sunroof drains which seem to be draining freely. I also checked the plastic scuttles under the bonnet which are draining fine. And also when i turn the A/C on I can see it dripping underneath which tells me it’s not that.

Anyone got any ideas? How can i locate this leak?

Thank you 🙏

Hey. I have a 15 X5, and got some used tires for a really good price. Good tread and decent year. Wanted to use them atleast this summer.

Turns out one or 2 of the front tires are “Feathered” ?? They create a ton of vibration when it’s warmed up. Mostly happens upon deceleration, and sometimes on light acceleration. Unpleasant to drive completely. They look good to me, but when I rub my hand one way, i can feel it get caught. I’m afraid this will cause x-drive transfercase problems. I’ve already done over 150km because of needed drives. It feels drivetrain vibration.

Now… I need to use this car. I’ve searched for used tires that match the tread of the rear tires, but it’s hard, and everyone is far away from me. Can I use X-delete as a temporary solution for this summer, until i change over to winter tires, and get new summers next season? Will the vibration go away?

Kind of a long shot, but willing to have some opinions.

TLDR: Likely jumped timing, possible valve contact, want to be sure before pulling the engine.

N57 just ticked over 150k.

Car drove fine one day, wouldn't start the next. Cranks but won't fire. Sounded pretty loud and knock-ey the first time I tried cranking it, less so on the next, worried about valves.

- ISTA says 273B00 "Camshaft sensor, signal not plausible"
Replaced sensor ($11 on rockauto clearance, cheaper than my time to test it), no change. No other relevant codes.

- Got a scope in the CPS hole, there is a timing chain there and I didn't see any guide shrapnel or anything.

- Will not attempt to fire with ether (at the filter, pre-turbo and throttle body).

- Significant oil leak from back of valve cover.

The signs point to a timing failure, especially with the presumed lack of compression (assumed from not firing on ether). Which means the engine's gotta come out, even if the valves/pistons are okay which I'm not sure they are.

But it's weird how it failed imo. I would have expected some kind of signs at least on its final drive, reduced power or a CEL or something. It's strange for a mechanical failure to occur when the engine is off. I'm also surprised to have so little compression that it won't even try to fire with ether while still having an intact timing chain, I didn't think there was that much stretch potential.

The only thing I can think of that would explain both the symptoms and weirdness is that oil leak let enough out that the next day when it was cold and I went to start it, there wasn't enough oil there to actuate the timing chain tensioners and the slack allowed it to jump some teeth.

What else can I check here to increase confidence in the diagnosis before committing to pulling the engine?

Can I just pull the DPF filter and hammer out the filter core inside, reinstall and code?

Anything more I should look at or do at the same time?

I tried to do some reaserch but I can’t seem to find this info.

Any incite would be swell. Thank you.

I drive a 2014 X5 35d with the N57 engine. Some time ago, I noticed that the engine oil temperature seemed low—especially compared to what the gauge displays. After about 30 minutes of highway driving at 70 mph, the oil temperature stabilizes around 160–170°F, while the gauge shows approximately 210°F. I confirmed the actual temperature using ISTA.

To verify gauge accuracy, I compared it with an X5 35i. On the X3, the oil temperature readings appear accurate and can reach around 200°F. I understand that diesel engines typically run cooler than gasoline engines, but this difference still seems excessive.

Continuing the investigation, I checked the coolant temperature and was surprised to find that after 30 minutes of highway driving, it stabilizes around 150°F—which is very low. I have historical data showing it used to run around 190°F. As a first step, I replaced the thermostat, but that did not resolve the issue.

I also verified the temperature sensor accuracy. It appears to be functioning correctly, as readings align with starting temp and IR measurements taken at various hoses and coolant points.

I don’t believe a faulty engine oil cooler thermostat (which was replaced about a year ago) would cause this issue, since the main thermostat should have significantly more control over coolant temperature than the oil thermostat.

Have no codes.

Has anyone experienced something similar or have any ideas on what might be causing this?
