Indeed, even affording such things, I can't ague soundly that spending such sums makes sense for any reason other than to assuage one's personal yearnings. The fakes, or even the knock-offs that only closely ape high-dollar timepieces, all are quite effective so long as they are of the uncomplicated variety. I can see how someone not really serious about collecting fine watches could easily justify a couple hundred or less in lieu of $10K+.
