Unless you splurge upon a hefty sump of money on gold , platinum models even if there's a loss it would be minimal or not as much as other brands .
However , let alone a loss from my own experience , after 3 years of ownership I was able to sold my Rolex Daytona 116500 LN 1.5 times as much price as I bought when it was new .
Bear in mind those models Daytona , Sky Dwellers (stainless steel ) and some other stainless steel Rolex watches are anything but possible to buy at the list price .
If you don't pay over premium or above the list price for any Rolex then your best bet could be buying a two tone sport models or Datejust
I don't see a disadvantage of owning a Rolex at all . It's the most recognizable watch brand of the planet
