I actually just had to replace both control arms on my F15 at the dealership at 45k miles. Apparently this was due to a "lack of lubrication," despite the fact that the parts are supposed to be lubricated from the factory. I agree with an earlier post and always go to the dealership for the warranty on the work, guaranteed OEM parts and a larger organization to go after if things go sideways. I paid $1800 and change at insurance pricing. It would've been over $2000 at "retail." The dealerships will still make good margins on insurance pricing. Just ask them when they deliver the quote if their pricing is retail and can they do better. Tell them that will incentivize you to continue to go to them vs going elsewhere. Hopefully they'll want to win your business long-term.
