I am starting to purchase the pieces to get this done and would like to get a DOC CAT to reduce the diesel smell and maybe dampen the high pitched idle whine. I'm not familiar with exhaust so I apologize if this is dumb question.
1) Can the existing DOC CAT be used? Is there a modification required e.g. welding any unused holes closed?
2) If the existing one can't be reused, can any DOC CAT be used? There is a big range in price.
3) Is there a recommendation for the DOC CAT?
4) Is there an residual resale value for the pieces that are going to be removed?
5) Can you confirm this is the list of things I need to purchase:
a. Downpipe $350 USD on the Ebay link
b. DOC CAT (assuming I have to buy one) $130 CDN on Amazon with title "4" Inlet/Outlet Universal Fit Catalytic Converter For Truck Diesel High Flow Cat Stainless Steel".
c. EGR Blanking Kit. $100 CDN on Ebay.
d. ECU Tune. $1100 USD from Malone Tuning according to this thread. Can't this simply be done through ISTA-D?
