IND| F85/F86 Trunk Emblem DIY

In continuation of supplanting the BMW chrome accents, one of the other areas require attention is the trunk badge. BMW always supplies a chrome badge denoting the given vehicles model. Although we will not substitute the infamous Texaco Red and Bavaria Blue accents, we will provide enthusiasts with a badge suitable for the theme of their vehicle.

Tools Required:
• Painters Tape
• Bondo Spreader

Available for purchase on our website.

Step 1:
The first and most important step is to mark the location of the factory badge. To do this create a frame around the badge with painters tape. This step is shown in the photos.

Step 2:
Now that the badge is framed simply take the bondo spreader and work your way through the 3M adhesive backing to the badge. I like to start at one corner and work my way the other direction. Patience will make for an easier clean up here.

Step 3:
Once the chrome badge is removed from the vehicle there may be some adhesive left behind. Remove with a soap and water mixture. You can also use 3M adhesive remover that can be purchased at your local auto parts store.

Step 4:
Now that the surface is clean of debris feel free to use adhesion promoter. You can also skip the promoter and apply the new badge. Remove one piece of lettering at a time from the wax paper and apply to the vehicle with light pressure.

Step 5:
Upon completion remove painters tape and wipe down the area with some quick detail, then admire your work.
