I was somewhat worried last year mounting 275(f)/315(r) Yoko BluEarths on my f15 X5 since my usual winter tire set-up was to do a -1 or -2 downsize. On plowed roads and snowfalls below 3" I assumed would be okay. But even in an 8" snowfall...having the wide 315/35/20 Yoko BluEarths still pulled through unplowed streets just fine.

Even though a narrower taller tire will be able to dig down deeper...if you are in a mostly urban area...I'm sure you'll be okay. And if you are in a really rural area with deep snow drifts...you'll still probably be okay with the tread pattern and winter rubber compound of the tires.

Again, the width of the rear Y/BE winter tire had me concerned until I actually got a chance to see them perform in cold/dry/wet/snow/ice/sleet conditions and performed without a hiccup.
