I called BMW tire service and Tyre Rack Customer service, they really don’t recommend 21 inch winter tires cause they said the side wall is not enough sitting on the wheels, every time you hit a pothole you are prone to tire damage and rims bend.. I think it depends. Maybe if you live in a really snowy area then yeah. But I live in DC and it snows maybe 2-3 times a year. I need winter tire performance for cold temps and not necessarily snow. So I chose the Yoko's on my 21" factory rims. Last winter they performed great.
I am fine keeping my car looking fresh on the 21s for 360 days a year and keeping it in the garage on the 4 days a year it's too severe to drive anyways!! lol
