LOL - I hear you. I was all about being a mage first time, maxed the magic but found I was still getting my butt kicked with certain elements.
Then I discovered the bow on my second playthrough and put that up to over 2000 damage and never feared a dragon or draugr again. Got so hooked on the bow that it was difficult to use the pretty wicked swords I was making because it required close quarters and the bow had turned me into a "distance kills are better" player.
I suspect 2019 will be the year. Just a hunch. See if any news comes from E3 in June.
