I know BMW said that 1 quart every 750 miles is fine , but not in my book. I guess I’m going to have to monitor my consumption closely and see if the mileage continues to go down between top offs. Though I would be curious if people who got new n63tu engines had the same oil consumption issues once there engine was replaced.

I noticed my MPG went down approx 1.5mpg between 100K and 150K. Here is what the inside of of a N63 looks like after 40,000 miles of burning a quart every 1000-1200 miles....(starting burning oil around 110K, put an additional 40K on it for 150K total before taking it down to do valve guide seals) I ended up pulling the heads so I could lap the valves when I noticed the exhaust valves were pitted pretty bad, carbon buildup from leaky valve guide seals can be a factor in this so I highly recommend having your valve guide seals replaced sooner then later and not driving for so long like I did.

They do clean up nicely though =)
