$20k? For some people that's a couple years of depreciation on their BMW. Watches last a lifetime and are heirlooms.
Some watches become more collectible and hold their value rather well, so total cost of ownership isn't as much as one would think. However, the cost of membership is a pretty hefty upfront price.
