I get what you are saying, but in everyday life, it sort of comes into play more than you would realize.
On my test drive, I had to check something in the back of the car, because I heard something flapping there. So I pulled over and was sort of dumbfounded how to leave the car safely. I ended up just turning the car off. Same thing when I returned the car to the dealer. I wanted to get out with the engine running to check the lights. Again, it was a pain and seemed so unnecessarily complex.
Why not give the car the best of both worlds if you can? The shifting competency of a DCT and the convenience of a parking setting of an auto? Leave the shiftier, just add a parking button.
