F85/F86 Stealth Towing Kit + OEM Module (DIY)

Hello guys,

I have done my Sunday Project today and would like to share my experience with the family.

I had 3 option to choose from.

1- Oem Class III Towing Kit

2- Electric Foldable OEM Unit

3- Stealth Towing Kit

The reason i did not go 1 or 2 was 1 is not looking too good when it is detached 2 doesnt have US hook option and the single hook on the Hitch is not compatible with many security hooks. You either have to weld new hooks or change your chain hooks to make that happen and i am not too fan of electrical unit when the thing comes to the towing. Manual unit is always more reliable in my book so i went with the clean design Stealth and quality is top notch.

I ordered the towing kit without any wiring harness. The important thing you have to know about the stealth towing kit is, there is 3 version. First and cheapest one is not for towing it is just for Bike Racks. Second option comes with Stealth Wiring harness and the 3rd one comes with Active Wiring Harness (OEM Module with Cable)

I called the customer support and said i purchased my OEM module and wiring kit, i do not need either Stealth or Active wiring harness, can you make a discount if you ship me without , they did $50 off of the 2nd option and got the unit quickly after i purchased.

Today was Sunday so it was a good day to start and finish the project. Took me 45 min to remove the bumper + install all the cables and unit + Put back everything.

After that i program the car by adding the K235 on HO_Wort and also removing the 8SL (Towing Prep Option) from the VO.

Then i needed to inject CAFD to the AAG unit which shown on the ECU list but Esys Refused to inject the CAFD for some reason.

After talking with the Legend Shawn, he suggest me to flash the unit since sometimes even tho FA calculation accepts without an issue, it can cause problems with the modules.

So i went ahead and VIN flash the AAG (AHM) with the latest psdzdata and Yes CAFD injected and everything was SET!

HU_NBT already had trailer hitch zoom option so didnt need to Default code any other modules. I have looked at following modules (KOMBI/PDC/PMA/BC_BODY) individually to see if there is any trailer codable areas i have seen BC BODY and PMA had options. PMA already selected with the f85 options for the distance under trailer option. And i didnt touch the BC BODY.

In my Porsche Macan S, when i was done with the OEM Module option, Kombi also activated additional Turn Signal , When i was giving signal i was seeing 2 different area flashing. One for Trailer one for car but i dont think BMW has anything like that.

Oem wiring harness came with all the plugs and my fuse box already had all the fuses in place since the car came with S8SL Prep. All i have done is put the required pins in place.

All the pin diagram and guidance given by Stealth Website as a PDF :

Here is the info you need to know about oem wiring :

The last picture where it shows BLACK would be Red and Blue for the OEM wiring harness, rest is identical.

Keep in mind that you can only CAFD inject or Flash the software by using Esys 3.30.1 version with FULL psdzdata.

I am extremely happy with the outcome and the great part is when it is detached you will never know there is a towing kit or not in the vehicle.

All 12 way and 4 flat Plugs are tested and working. In the near future i can also hook the trailer with brake assist and can tow the track car without an issue. But for now it is just for the JetSkis.

HO_Wort Value shown in the picture 235 has to be "K235"

Additionally i experienced something today while the trailer was attached and driving, Lane Change Warning light was coming on and off and vibrating the steering, thinkin that someone behind me after 30+ MHP reached. So i went ahead and default code the HC2 module (Lane Warning Module) to my new VO and the value of the Anhaengermodul AHM K235 was verbaut (installed) which i assume it deactivates the radar while trailer On.

I also check BDC_BODY for trailer option and saw VAM_Trailer, it says if Trailer module installed = aktiv so i switched from nicht_aktiv ----> aktiv

Additional Coding Parameters (This part not found anywhere in the web and the advice was VO code all the modules or ISTA+ Programming. But with this you can do individually without loosing any custom codings :

BDC_BODY (Good Old FRM)

ANHAENGER nicht_verbaut ----> verbaut
VAM_Trailer nicht_aktiv -----> aktiv

ICM

C_AHM_vorhanden aus ----> ein (available)
IcmKod_B_S3ACA nicht_verbaut ----> verbaut (If you install $3AC Electronic Folding Hitch)

DSC2

Verbaut_Anhaengermodul nicht_verbaut ----> verbaut
Funktion_Anhaengerschlingerlogik_aktiv nicht_aktiv ----> aktiv

HU_NBT2

MACRO_TRAILER_COUPLING nicht_aktiv ---> aktiv

PMA2 (PDC)

ANHAENGERKUPPLUNG inaktiv ----> aktiv

HC2

Anhaengermodul AHM K235 nicht_verbaut ------> verbaut

Hope it helps the community.
