I grabbed the latest off bmw.com/updates - UPD05074, formatted a USB stick with MS-DOS (FAT) on my Mac, and put it there. When I try to update, the vehicle says something like "The software is not suitable for this vehicle".
I tried extracting the .bin file and putting all individual files there, but get the same message.
I'm pretty sure I've seen someone post newer firmware versions here. The Update site says this new one is for vehicles "with production date from July 2012 to June 2015" - which mine would certainly be.
Any ideas on what I should do differently? The only thing I can think of is to format the USB with NTFS on Windows - although the vehicle clearly reads from the USB stick as is.
Any help would be appreciated! |
Strangely, for some reason every time i try to accomplish it on Mac it does not work. I have to fire up my old and cranky windoz pc, and it works. USB has to be formatted as FAT32.
