We did get the battery discharge message on both cars, but it never came back after we cleaned up the contacts of corrosion and after recharging them (these don't get tendered at the terminals in the engine compartment)
I did read somewhere that there's an option to buy one of the smaller batteries that batteriesplus sells and secure it by drilling some holes at different offsets to fit its size, but I'm not planning to butcher our cars

I find it hard to believe bmw had a special battery size built for the x5.
My local dealer quoted me $600 plus tax for both batteries. And that is with a discount.... They're a big dealer and don't even stock the smaller battery. Does nobody change it?
