I did this today on my 2015 35d. In my case it was a quarter. It took me about 1hr 15 mins from start to finish. Only need a t20 torx screwdriver and a plastic pry tool.
Only thing I would add is tape; I used painters tape to seal the seam and also placed bunched in wads of tape into the groove so that even if something did fall in there again, it would not be able to roll. So now an unlimited amount of change can fall down there and it won't get caught in the groove!!
