So.... the real reason for this post was the fact that I'll be putting many more miles on with work over the next couple of years. After visiting the BMW dealer I bought my X5 from, I opted to trade it in for a Lexus. While the X5 is easily the best vehicle I've ever owned, I couldn't justify running into the ground with 30k+ miles/year for the next few years. I paid $62 for my X5 17 months ago (MSRP was $69) and I got just shy of $51k on trade. Factoring in savings on sales tax on the new vehicle, it was an additional savings of $2300, so basically my X5 only depreciated $10k over the past 17 months. Pretty amazing...
