Sorry, this happened randomly in my 2017 X5 40e AND 35d as well. Sometimes it would do this EXACT thing you are describing on back to back start ups. And yet sometimes the iDrive screen kept the info I had/wanted...and then just like that, next start up just what you are experiencing!
