Pedestrian warning fail = sore neck

Driving down a road I drive down every weekend a couple of times at 30 MPH. Out of no where my 2018 decides to hit the brakes and I see the picture of a person on the console. Minor problem, there was no person, car, bird, etc.

Breaks hit hard and my wife and I got a nice whiplash in our necks.

Bad sensor? Why would they design something like this?
