I've had my 2014 X5 for about a month and that phone cradle was already driving me crazy...so much wasted space plus making the rest of it awkward to use. It took me about 40 minutes to take it out, but about 30 minutes of that was disconnecting the wiring connectors. Not a lot of space or wire slack, but well worth the time and effort.
