Just did this install over the weekend. Installation is a breeze. For the AC panel you don't have to pull the knobs as it's a direct replacement if you get a panel from the F series. Pull the dash trim and the panel is held by 2 torx bolts up top. You'll need to pry out the small plastic trim below it where the usb connection is to fully remove. Just a heads up so you don't make the same mistake as I did there's a number of iDrive controllers and the later models have silver trim between the buttons and the buttons are different. Sure you could probably fix this with coding but I preferred the silver trim on the controller as it matches the other interior pieces.
