The “yellow engine light” is the CEL/SES/MIL (check engine light/service engine soon/malfunction indicator light) it varies by manufacturer as to which name is used. But this warning means that a fault code has been set by something related to your car’s emissions system. If the light stays on consistently or intermittently…you can drive with caution. But if the light is flashing….you need to stop driving because you could cause damage (like a misfire which could damage the catalysts).
You can connect an OBD II scanner/reader to th OBD II port and pull the code to see what sensor set the fault code. There are generic OBD II scanners that will give a 5 digit DTC (diagnostic trouble code)….or a “P” code as its called by many. Once you have the P code, you can google to usually find the reason/solution
