Important info about BMW Warranty!!!
You no longer need to get your car serviced at a BMW dealership!!! CONFIRMED.
As long as you use a VAT registered garage and oem parts! Now I need to start looking for a cheap way to source oem parts and indy!... Last edited by zltm089; 06-20-2012 at 05:51 AM.. |

Thank you for telephone call.
I can confirm further to our telephone conversation that servicing can be done outside of the BMW network at any VAT registered garage using genuine BMW parts and the correct grade of oil. This information is not currently listed in our policy booklets but will be available in the future. Dealer v Non-Dealer Servicing Independent servicing chains regularly advertise that they can perform log book servicing that wont affect a vehicles new car warranty. But vehicle manufacturers and new car dealers would like everyone to believe that only an authorised dealer can service your new car properly. So what is the truth? Here are the facts. The Trade Practices Act prevents the practice of exclusive dealing by attaching conditions to the sale of goods that restrict the buyers freedom of choice to deal with whom or in what they choose. Essentially this means that a vehicle manufacturer cannot specify that you must have your car serviced by a particular dealer or group of dealers as part of the warranty conditions. Nor can a manufacturer void a warranty simply because a vehicle owner has chosen to have a vehicle serviced outside the dealer network. A vehicle manufacturer can however refuse a warranty claim where there is evidence of lack of maintenance, inappropriate work practices or where a non-genuine replacement part has failed or caused other damage. |

^ this is not though, the manufacturer setting the rules, it's mondial who provide the insurance/warranty for the bmw extended warranty. So this is all new and improved unless I am mistaken.

Yes the original new car warranty is provided by BMW who never place any restrictions. Any extended warranty outside of the 3 year period, even on cars bought from within the BMW dealer network were provided by Mondial who always stipulated that servicing needed to be carried out by BMW main dealers.
This was one of my biggest sticking points about renewing the warranty. Now that they have changed this, I will definately be extending my warranty for the best of both worlds. Peace of mind of the warranty from any big bits going wrong plus cheaper and more importantly better, more knowlegeable servicing from an indie you can trust. |

If you are referring to the extended warranty - then I'll be very surprised if the terms are changing. |

It seems crystal clear to me,the email Kev received and copied at the top of the thread was signed by someone who's role is:
BMW Insured Warranty Services Co-ordinator BMW Insured Warranty Services The disclaimer at the bottom of the email also makes it clear that the email originated from Mondial Assistance (UK) Ltd
