how to remove the side mirror lens only (e92)?

i've tried searching, but no luck. anybody know how to do this? it shouldn't be too different from the older models, but i've never done it before, so i'm asking for some help here. tks!

i think he means just removing the mirror, but leaving the "case" intact.

it should be like the E46's. tilt the mirror up as far as it will go. you should see the bottom of the locking ring. get a pick or something similar and slide the ring to the opposite side of where it's currently at. once you unlock the glass, it's just held to the motor by double sided adhesive. you can pry it off the glass CAREFULLY with a 90 degree pick or your fingers, if they're small enough.

NOTE: turn your key on for 5-10 minutes to allow the mirrors to heat up (the side mirrors are constantly heated). this will soften the adhesive and make it much easier to pry the glass off. if you don't do this, you will most certainly crack the glass when you pry on it. ask me how i know. =/

what's the reason for doing this? Can you replace the glass with euro/canadian mirrors?

i had US M3 mirrors. i bought euro M3 mirrors. had to transfer the glass over to the new housings.
