Imo it doesn't take that long but shops will he shops and they have plenty of overhead so that price is correct but if your lucky you can find a reliable shop with a owner that has a damn heart and he will charge you $500-$700 bucks.

If you don't have a tite-reach wrench to reach the bottom nuts from hell then it take 5 years. With it it takes like 3 to 5 hours for an amateur. A mechanic on a lift should be able to do this in 2 hours if he takes a 30 min break. I did my M5 in about 2.5 hours, the X5M longer bc i simply had to buy the tite-reach which i kissed after i used it to extract the nuts. Yes, they are ripping you of if the quote is more than 3 hours, they rip all of us off but you have no choice unless you do it yourself.
M5 https://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1672163 Edit anything over 5 hours is a god damn joke. 9 hours 11 hours?? Bunch of jerks wow. Remove the engine cover (10 seconds) Easy Unfasten the ECU and remove (20 mins) Easy Remove the ECU bracket (10 mins)Easy Then the O2 sensors (10 mins) Easy Then the heat shields (30 mins) a little difficult Remove the upper DP bracket bolts (20 mins) Easy Then loosen the vbands (5 mins) Easy Go below (38 seconds) Difficult Remove the stiffening plate 5 mins) Easy Then use the tite-reach to remove the nuts from the bottom DP bracket (5 years without the tite-reach 10 mins with) Easy with the right tool Then drop the entire exhaust its just easier (20 mins) Easy After loosening the clamps Pull the exhaust system from the rear with the mufflers on a dolly to slide out of the DP's (10 mins) Easy Now the toughest part remove the DPs, (45 mins) Difficult Drop the new pipes, ensure you are on the brackets, tighten (20 mins) Easy Back to the top and tighten the vbands (5 mins don't over tighten, break the bolt and smash your knuckles) Easy Back below, slide and connect the exhaust back to the DPS and reinstall the exhaust to the mounts (25 mins) Easy with 2 people, did mine solo use a jack to raise the exhaust. Put everything else back together (1 hour if you are a turtle) 5 hours without a lift for a diyer. A mechanic should be able to do this in half the time on a lift. Ask them which part takes the longest? Last edited by StatenEye; 09-01-2020 at 08:37 PM.. |

I can do them in half the time but i charge twice the hourly rate. You mean the Sedona? The Sedona is so great it works on it's self. What a vehicle.
