ISTA support
Trying to scan a code on my 2017 x5 35d, I have installed ista+ following bimmerdoc video and using enet cable. It seems like it will detect my vehicle but when i try to connect it asks me to put my VIN in manually. If I do it will fill some information in the background but will never really finish the process and then the car will hit the sleep timer and shut off. Been googling all day but not coming up with any solutions. Any help is appreciated.

What are the ENET connection settings within ISTA? 169.254.x.x indicates a link-local address, which means that the car/adapter tried and failed to get an address from a DHCP server.
If I had to guess, you'll likely have to manually assign an IP to the adapter/car or setup a DHCP server on the computer |

I cannot help yet, but am looking to purchase and download ISTA+ for our 2018 X5 diesel that we've had since new (F15, X5 35d). First question. If I may ask, where did you download? When I Google there are a number of hits ranging from a few bucks to free, from all kinds of addresses. I cannot seem to locate whose program this is and am hesitating. Second question, what specific cable did you purchase. This also puzzles me. I'm good mechanically and electrically, terrible at IT. Thank you.

Red_Y_ - thank you very much. I thought that might be the case, though BMW's TIS website doesn't exactly make that clear until you get into the FAQs. Nonetheless, I subscribed and paid thinking they are less likely to get hacked, the program authentic/genuine and not compromised. Of all of the BMW's we've owned along the way, this 2018 X5 diesel has been the most quirky. It's my wife's, a custom order with 90,000 currently. Runs strong, is sure footed in all weather, but chews through front ends like back in the 80's when the first "sealed for life ball joints" were introduced and has had a nagging "miss" for the last two years. No codes, but I've now isolated to two injectors after logging voltage, noticing a correlation and then Ohming all when cold and then hot following a moderate drive (previously ruled out fuel/water separator and filter, MAF, EGR and associated, and intake/intake leaks - no R&R, just ole fashioned troubleshooting when time allowed). Unfortunately, our local dealership's service group is not experienced with diesels, or oil changes for that matter. Equally unfortunate, the applicable Service Information and warranty extension is inapplicable at this time since no codes. Still going to submit to BMW (after I purchase the two replacements and install), but expect a denial without a code. Such is life.
