The Michelin Pilot Super Sport is the best of the best currently. For a good value oriented choice, consider the Continental Extreme Contact DW.

I've driven many miles on the previous generation Michelin max perf summer tire (PS2) and the current Conti DW's and the PS2 was clearly superior in terms of handling. The PSS seems to be even better. The DW's are smoother, quieter and cheaper but soft when new. They firm up after a few thousand miles.
