2015 X5 CD storage error
This is on a 2015 X5 xdrive35i
I have been uploading some of my CD collection to the X5 storage without any issue. Today I was part way through loading up a CD when I got the error message "Error while storing CD. Unable to store complete CD". Now when I try to access Media, all I get is this error - I cannot access the CD player or the music storage. Full disclosure - I've uploaded 10 CDs. I believe the capacity is 20 gb which should be about 30 CDs so I am guessing space is not an issue. The CD plays fine on the CD player and is a genuine original i.e. not a copy. Do any of you guys have any suggestions on what caused this problem and perhaps more importantly, how I fix this? TIA, Dave |

Sounds like some kind of drive error like failing hard drive or something. Does your sat nav still work?

Latest update. After leaving car for about 4 hours, I turned on multimedia and it would play a CD without problem. I looked at the stored music and everything is there including a partial copy of the CD that caused me a problem. So, I decided to try storing again. The system recognized that there is a partial copy and offered to pick up where it left off. It rapidly went through % complete up to the point where - boom - it hit the same problem and took me right back to where I started this thread. Tomorrow, assuming it goes back to allowing me to play a CD, I will try a new one and see if that makes any difference. |

That's weird, so maybe just a hard drive write error. I guess it happens?

Final update. I made a copy of the offending CDs to a CD-R and then tried storing them again. Bingo! The storage completed.
I guess the interface to the hard drive must be far more sensitive on copying the disk than the CD player is in playing it. I can't pretend I understand why that is so but I'm glad it's done with. |
