Ceramic Tint sunroof?

For those of you that went with Ceramic tint, did you include your sun roof as well? I noticed a difference when I went ceramic but still feel some heat especially from the roof liner being that it's more glass than your normal sunroof. I didn't think to have this done when I tinted my car but may now look into doing so. I don't usually leave my car out in the sun unless I have no choice so not sure if worth the investment. Waiting on my cousin who does all my tint work to get back at me with a quote to see if worth it.

I got my roof and windshield ceramic tinted. 35% on the roof and 70% on the windshield.

Did you notice a big difference inside temp wise? I expect some heat when touching my roof liner it was pretty hot and where I think the excess heat was coming from.

I hear 3M crystalline is the best performer now, but don't know how it really feels in reality

I had both windshield and sunroof tinted. It helped. It's not crazy mind you but it's a big piece of glass man.

I did 50% windshield and 35% sunroof this spring. Both FormulaOne ceramic by Llumar. Happy with the windshield, wish I had gone a little darker on the sunroof since I like to keep it open all the time.

I was thinking doing the same thing and getting the sunroof tinted really dark like 5%, but was not sure how much it would help the heat.

Ceramic tint blocks out way more heat than regular tint no matter the % but will still block out some heat.

Ya you don't necessairly gain a lot more heat rejection with darker color in ceramic. You do get more but it's like 5-10% depending on how dark.

I thought about going super dark too but I like having it open at night and seeing the sky when I can. Call me sentimental. Lol but ya I agree kind of wish I went a bit darker than what I ended up going.

Like BimmerTy I keep the shade open almost all the time and sometimes family members get direct sun light to their face and I was thinking to cut the heat and also the excessive sunshine while still allowing them to look out of the sunroof.

I think I've completely opened up my just once. Most times I just slide the shade back to let light in on days that are over cast so Mr. Occifer can see in the cabin better since my windshield tint is like 50% and sides are like 30%. That and I hate how dusty it gets inside when opening the windows.

So what's the verdict? Get ceramic not too dark? I am used to 3M but they only have ceramic 30% as the darkest shade.

That should be plenty dark.

I'm going ceramic with a light tint. I think 70% is the lightest my cousin had.

Da feck. Like the glass shattering cuz it gets too hot or something. Explain this explosion word you've tossed out there please.

It's been discussed enough that a simple google search using "BMW exploding sunroof" will get you enough results to get the gist. Here's a direct link to the top result using the aforementioned google search phrase: https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2...-lawsuit.shtml

Just tinting the sunroof wouldn't cause it to break. But it's tempered glass which means it's made to absorb certain amount of heat which then expands so basically if your sunroof glass has any sort of imperfection as in like it's crooked, chipped or faulty then with the tint already having the glass absorb more heat than it could handle already it could shatter.

That's a great tint! Most of my clients go for the Llumar pinnacle or stratos all around with 3M Crystaline 70% front windshield. I see you are in NYC if that's the route you plan on going definitely check out The Art of Tint in brooklyn as they are a very reputable authorized LLumar dealer.
