Seeking Tire Recommendation/Advice
Hello
My car suffered from some serious alignment issue and I had it fixed by the BMW dealership about a half year ago I noticed that the wear on the outer side of the tread is severe whereas the innerside is very good, the rear tires are still looking like new... is this normal? I am not exactly sure what would be the best course of action given the situation. The car is used as a family car and I often drive it if we are going out as a family otherwise it's for my wife and we have a 3-year-old daughter. I am mainly looking to improve the driving comfortability and to reduce the noise level so my wife can have a comfortable/smooth ride which seems to be the case when swapping the RFT to Non-RFT, however, I am not sure if I need to focus on that one tire with the issue or the front set only or to replace all 4 even though three other tires have a lot of life on them, it also seems that it's not advisable to mix RFT and Non-RFT which would force me to change all 4. Searching from this forum the stapled selections of tires really come down to the following four tires.
brief profile summary is
They all seem to be at a similar price point and seem equally good choices but I hear people talk highly of DWS but also see comments on its sidewall appearance but i really dont know how to picture that Once decided what to do with my situation, I plan on going with America's tire since they are convenient for me but many people here seem to get their tires from Tirerack, is there any benefit of getting them from that Tirerack over other tire companies? Thanks for your help |

Conti dws plus!, hands down best tire I have had !
Snow, rain, over 140mph (maybe ), corners like crazy, comfortable ride, no road noise. Lasting forever … |

If you absolutely do not care about snow or bad weather I would go with Continental DWS06, if you might consider occasional ski trip Vredestein. Bridgestones are nice but I feel like they wear faster. Michelin are the most expensive and in my opinion a bit overpriced.

I have the continental DWS 06 plus. Got from the tire rack. This is the way to go. I also have 469M 20in. Tire rack gives free road hazard warranty for 2 years instead of having to pay for it. You also get 12 months of road hazard and 3-year roadside assistance from continental themselves via their own warranty. Tire rack website also has many payment options such as allowing Bridgestone credit card to work on their site and you get 0% financing as well as other cards such discount tire card.

Thank you all, the life on the front tire only had like 3 left on it so I did go ahead and order DWS 06 Plus as everyone suggested so far. The total including the installation and etc came out to be around 1400.
The cost of tires alone from TireRack and America's tire was a penny difference.. lol I guess now I will have to sell my rear tires.. they have 6.5 and 7 left on them. |

The DWS tire is popular, but it's not a good looking tire. And for that reason only, I couldn't ever get them. I prefer the "steamroller" look. The DWS tires look bulbous.

Not worried about flat tires since I have roadside assistance free and any tire shop that sells continental can replace the tire for free under road hazard warranty. So pretty much there is a tire shop on every other corner unless it happens after 6 pm then you will have to wait until the next morning.

I recently put Conti DWS06 Plus on 469Ms; very happy with the ride and handling so far.

Sounds like you seriously need an alignment. I've been using Nitto Motivo's on 20" for the last 80k miles. They're basically DWS06 equivalent, so I would also second the DWS's if you like Conti. Got 70k from the fronts and 50k from the rears on my 1st set. Just make sure you always do a fresh alignment with new tires and rotate every 15k miles ish.

I love my DWS. Drive across country through several snowstorms in the mountains. Made the stock Good Years look like absolute garbage.
In general you get about 40k miles of decent snow usage, and like any tire, after that they don’t have the tread depth to safely handle snow. So far 14k miles of use has only equaled about 1/8” of wear. Was pretty shocked and happy to see that! |
