I just got the figures from production:
$3,900 for extended Nappa Mocha + CS (+13% tax) + $400 special order !!! That's $5,000 upgrade just to get two seats??!!! Hell I can buy another car with that...lol It is a NO GO! |

Interesting... So I assume that cost will be lower with a 50i going from sport seats to Nappa + CS/MC? Looks like Nappa is available now to order?

The Nappa extended can be ordered on my Diesel 35d as a "Special order"... I think I can't just put aside 5Gs for CS...I was OK if they had offered it with the normal Dakota Mocha so at least I would have saved around $1500 there... |

The production agreed to waive the Special Order fee...
but here are the facts: Not only we pay around $4,500 in upgrade but also around $500 in added HST plus another $600 additional interest during the 3 year term...I just can't find a logical reason why would anyone do this?! |

so what's your opinion?
Like I said earlier, the cost to upgrade to Nappa+CS is: $1000 for Nappa + $2,900 for CS + $400 special order. Total $4,300 + 13% Tax = $4,950 If I can get the dealership to Waive the cost of $1000 Nappa and $400 special order...do you think the $2,900 +tax is worth the package now? I would also get %4.75 discount on the $2,900 = $2760 + 13% = $3,175 |

Standard seats are a vast improvement from previous model. I am 5-7 and felt lost in the standard seats w/o the bolsters and the padding wasnt so great. New seats have better cushion and a little more shape to them. I was pleasantly surprised. I actually though they were mc at first. Sport seats give you a tighter feel but not to tight like you might get on a 3 series sport seat. I really am happy w these seats. My friend who did pcd w me is 6-0 and built big. He loved the seats as well and neither of us had any issues on our 9 hr drive back from pcd. Mc seats are very nice. A little more padding, a little less form fit than sport seats. The two biggest items on mcs is the ability to alter the side bolsters and to adjust the extra angle of the seat back. I personally didnt find these to be must haves. Imo the other adjustments are bs. You rarely change the leg extender or head rest so i ddint need them electric, manual was fine. I also dont need sirplane wrap around while im driving. I origonally had xline w mcs. I swapped last minute to msport w sport seats and couldnt be happier. The extras you get for same price are worth it(msport wheel, sport+ is so much better than sport, nicer body molding, cooler tailpipes, option of carbon black paint). I dont regret not having mcs at all. To me the only thing mcs had which i wanted was ventilated seats as an extra upgrade. However reviews on this site and my dealer both say bmw ventilated seats really arent thst good vs other manufacturers. |

Spent lot of time when deciding between MC seats and standard.
For us, except a better padding and looks MC seats are not practical. Unless you have big personality they don't come close to you. |

and I guess it all boils down to that extra $3-4k that is quite substantial which doesn't really change the bigger landscape... and to your point, I think the standard seats are quite ok...I've never had comfort seats before so I'm not missing on anything...I really like the Mocha Dakota, so I think I don't have a whole bunch of options... I'm even negotiating with the dealership and they MIGHT be willing to waive the price of NAPPA leather ($1,000) as it comes with comfort seats as well as the special order fee ($400) and I only pay for the comfort seats ($2,900)...but I still find it unreasonable...because you have to account for the taxes (13%-additional $500) plus the implicit financial interest (additional ($600 throughout 36 months) and you'll easily reach $3,700! It really changes your bottom line in calculations IMO... Last edited by Shaw; 11-23-2013 at 08:32 AM.. |

I hear you on luxury vs sport. Imo the steering wheel is way superior. In regsrds to macha dakota 1) it looks really good in person. I almotmordered it and chamged last min to black. My only real regret as mocha looks nice. 2) you can get mocha dakota on msport seats. I had it on order and just cheked the configurator. You may be doing something wrong on the configurstor that is knocking it out then defaulting back mit is an configuration option to gave mocha dakota on msport seats. |

^ The Canadian configurator doesn't currently allow it.
BMW's constant changing of the available seating and upholstery is very confusing. As you can see in a member from Calgary's thread, he got Mocha Dakota on a MSport so I dunno what gives but it seems every time you take a look at this stuff it has shifted around in some way. |

so just as I suspected...the Canadian site doesn't provide that option...
more so interestingly as I just noticed, our MSport option puts in Comfort Seats instead of Sport seats... I don't even see that Sport see in the Canadian configurator!!! so it doesn't really make a difference.... for me Mocha Dakota only comes with standard seats... |

Can someone post pics of front & back of the CS? And also the 2nd row pic? Does the 2nd row seats also change with CS or stay the same? |

I don't have a pic, sorry. It's basically the same seat but with an adjustable seat back (6 positions I think) and the seat can slide giving more or less foot rom. 3rd row deletes this.

yes both comments are correct...rear seats are the same in comfort option ($600)...it only adds more versatility and flexibility...
and the 3rd row vs. rear comfort is an either/or scenario... I went with rear seat comfort as I thought to give my kids more comfort... |
