Worked on the exhaust tips of the MPE today to keep aesthetics clean and consistent and did a gloss black powdercost. I'm really happy how they turned out!
I set out to paint but after seeing lots of local guys having chips and mediocre or inconsistent results after a short amount of time I knew I needed something more durable and excellent finish. I'll update down the road but am feeling really good about it.

i had the front windows tinted and a few things about it just left me uneasy. there were tiny fibers stuck between the film and the glass and there were small scratches on the edge it seems from where the tech used a blade to cut the film and accidentally touched the film on the glass. the gloss black panels were left dirty with water stains dried up on them.
it HAD to be fixed and i didn't feel like wasting my time and going back there so new project: after removing the tint, there was glue residue left on the window/glass. i was able to clean a lot of it with goof-off and a blade but the corners behind the trim and under the bottom were not going to be cleaned and i wanted to get the tint reinstalled elsewhere and they were going to need a clean surface and it just bothered me knowing they weren't cleaned 100% so.... the glass was going to have to come out... MUCH BETTER!

we get a few nasty rainy or foggy days here and it's always nice for some extra visibility during those times. i also just like a unique mod so set out for the rear fog mod.
unlike on f-series where you can simply remove the missing button and modify to make the plug a pushable button and code the rest, the f15 does not play nice. one is required to code, certainly, but also purchase a lighting switch from euro model to get the button. this works out nicely anyway for me as i would want the OEM backlit button for a clean install. ordered the switch and was a ten minute swap of the switches. the coding was already done and waiting for an active switch a while ago. bonus was i completely forgot about the new input now being made available to the 6WB retorfit cluster and the new light i would get for when the switch was on. love it. in no particular order here are the swap photos i took and at the bottom the final result with the OEM euro rear fogs turned on. not sure why so many people said this was not possible in all the threads i read on here but here i am to prove it is and easily done, at that!

Your quality bar and attention to detail are second-to-none! I'm OCD as well, but am a stickler for people doing what I pay them to do, so back to the tint shop I would've gone. That was just pure lack of care/giving a sh*t. Tint shops live and die by the quality of the install so the manager or owner would've hopefully apologized and put his best person on it to make you whole.
As for the rear fog... nicely done. I would prefer the panic stop flash feature to be easily coded to work over the rear fog. That's just me though.

I'm assuming you have a new F15. The rear fog requires new lights for 14-16 models I believe. 17 it just requires the switch and coding. Another guy discovered this a few weeks ago. But nice now to be easily done.
Sorry to hear about your tint job. The shop I went to had trouble working with ceramic. Particularly on my windshield. They ended up having to toss an entire roll because of some streaks in the tint. Had them redo it twice. And now I've found bubbles in my passenger side. But I'm surprised you didn't just have them redo it or at least remove it all. They just use a steamer and you can just pull it all off without it leaning any behind. At least that's how I've been doing it for years. Still love the mods!

Yeah I was back and forth on the brake force coding or this for a while. I read some studies indicating flashing brake lights don't and other cues don't provide sufficient delta in response time over regular brake lamps to make a difference and that was that. Also just like a unique project and getting parts in and making them work, haha.

Maybe it was indeed the ceramic that makes the job more difficult, not sure. Once I have seen the quality or integrity of a persons work is not to my standard they rarely get a second chance. I wouldn't even trust them to remove it which is why I did it myself. I have found when one is good at something they are typically consistent. And the same is true of the opposite. Crazy thing is they have great reviews. Often I think I'm too meticulous but I won't have it any other way. The steamer only works on certain films. On this one unfortunately even with the steamer and only being a day or so old all he residue was left behind. Usually streamer and some simple windex is all is needed but this stuff required a bit more effort Thanks for following along!

I recently did Pinnacle 15 on all the windows....and will be doing either air 80 or pinnacle 50 on the windshield and pano.
Compare TSER I recommend just depends on how dark you want to go and get good heat rejection. Pinnacle or DubIr are good if you dont mind it being darker tint. But if you want it to be lighter but still have good heat rejection then I would say the LLumar Stratos. LLumar Pinnacle DubIr LLumar Stratos |
