X5M Perf Tuning recommendations - Need Help.
NEED YOUR HELP / EXPERIENCE in TUNING!!
New to the Forum, I've researched several threads on which tuning options are best for X5M '16. I've narrowed my list down to: 1. BM3 2. Velos 3. JB4 Trying to narrow my decision down to one - fews questions. - what are the benefits of BM3 vs Velos vs JB4 - I'm looking for smooth acceleration - for the price difference, is Velos worth it. - which option is safer for my X5M -- my car has 40k miles Open to feedback or other options. Thanks for your help!!! Robert |

You may want to check some of the other more performance-oriented forums like [Admin Notified] (I like how this forum force-censors that forum name... sigh). There is a lot of good discussion looking at logs of different tunes and thoughts. I've built and tuned/had tuned a whole bunch of different platforms. I went with bm3 for my F86 because I like that it is a platform that tons of different tuners use (so besides having great OTS maps, custom is easy), ability to datalog, and ability to grow with me as things change.

My vote is for bm3
Most don’t understand exactly what bm3 is. Yes it’s a tune but more a platform to tune yourself, Switch between different tunes, switch to stock, data log. You get a over the shelf tune with you purchase a license from bootmood, it’s a great tune but there are more aggresive and different tunes which are all loaded under you profile in which you can switch within mins yourself. I bought the tune pack which included 3 extra tunes from bootmod for My X5m, stage 1, stage 2. And within each tune options for mild and aggressive burble And big plus is bm3 allows you to transfer the license once which you can get some of your money back when your done with the car Quote:

I went with bm3 for my F15 N63TU, and I'm very pleased. The key thing they offer is data logging, so you're not just tuning in the dark and making adjustments without any feedback from the engine itself. My results are outstanding - crank horsepower around 630-650 and 0-60 times of 3.5 seconds. This is with their OTS 93-octane map. The only mods are a custom exhaust with an x-pipe (stock downpipes), and F85/86 spark plugs and air filters.

Is the increase felt along the entire RPM spectrum or primarily at higher revs? I am assuming most will be felt at higher revs but would be thrilled if the power is noticeable off-the-line and at lower revs.

Did I miss something? I only saw a tune for the N63TU platform.

I have been reading about rod failure on the F10 M5 performance forum as well in the last couple weeks. Has me a bit nervous about my stage 2 tune. Thought I researched it before buying and didn't see anything negative. Thinking about maybe going to a stage 1 tune or finding someone to custom tune via BM3 and softening the low end. |

Here are a couple dragy runs of before (stock) and after (BM3 st2 91 oct and catless VRSF DP).
Both had high Density Air. Road was wet/slick for the after run (60ft isn't good). I would expect to be into the high 11s with a better launch. |
