Well if it's like the door panel lights, the strip is like a fiber optic (plastic rod) with an led bulb at the end to light it up.
Just need to find the bulb. Perhaps it moved away from the plastic strip a bit, since you say it's dim.

Going to have a local Euro shop look at it as well but will inquire if this is the case with needing a quick re-alignment to purpose the led bulb

Haven't had a chance to bring it to a shop. Sometime this weekend I'm going to show it and report back...

Hi,

do you have "new" informations baout the issue? My stripes are also "dimmed"....i think they should be brighter than they currently are. Setting in Headunit is on max. From beginning to the the end they are loosing brightness and Iīve recognized kind of stains...before and after this point it is brighter...

I had posted a while ago a pic of the inside of the door panel. There's just a bulb at the end of the plastic 'fiber optic'. You can try searching for that thread.

I have a new bulb, but not installed yet. Can you confirm that this is the reason for the low brightness?

I can't confirm. It's either a weak bulb, bulb too far from fiber optic end, or it's just normal.

Hmmm ok. I'll just try to install the new bulb and test. Maybe the fibre optic tube is damaged.

After I've found time to try, I'll post here.

Iīve ordered in a onlineshop, it is an offical BMW dealer. But i am from europe, I donīt know if there is something similar in US.

Change: you have to disassamble a couple of things...depending on which bulb you want to replace

Update regarding my issue: changed bulb in dashboard and nothing changed...so I expect my issue in the door panels is not a damaged bulb...

The problem is the plastic rod. It is old and it not transmit light as good as it used to be.

An idea how to fix it? A new fibre optic is not an option as you can not buy it separately. It comes with the complete door panel. I mean only the one on top...the other two are available separately
