x6 f16 windshield washer sensor broken?

I always get the windshield fluid washer level low message when puttin the car into gear, the fluid level is always full though and I have no leaks either (this started happening about 2 1/2 years into owning the car)
I'd like to know if the sensor is in the reservoir, or somewhere else.

How do I know I don't have a leak? I filled it to max with the blue liquid from bmw (dilluted to proper) and the message comes up. Also, if next few days I try to top off again, it will overfill so no liquid is lost and sprayer is working properly.

Fwiw, I've always used the genuine bmw washer fluid and no 3rd party brand to mess up the pump amd clog things.

Much appreciated! Looks I may need a new reservoir. Maybe the wire has gotten loose, will check first
