2014 X5 F15 N57 3.0d Excessive Oil Consumption
Hi.. im new to the Forums online,
I have this vehicle, and is excessively consumming oil.. Last time its 2ltrs in 350 miles!!!!!!!! Vehicle is below 80,000 miles No Leaks or Smoke either.. Very unusual Anyone out there whos had a issue with this?? Inlet pipe to turbo (connection to breather crankcase) has abit of oil as you would expext?? Any help or info will be great Thanks |

The place you start is crankcase vent unit., if this has not already been done. If it is partly plugged or has too much deposit buildup then it fails to condense oil from escaping vapors and oil consumption can be high. Search "N57 crankcase breather". There is a cover with diaphragm that fails but the unit can be cleaned and change the diaphragm or replaced to get a properly functioning unit with new diaphragm already fitted.

1qt consumed in 1400mi, 72K mi. on engine. Not excessive, seen worse especially on T4 engines (Audi, etc). 1L in 175 mi is excessive and if it is being combusted (as opposed to leaking), surely it could lead to other problems/fouling.
